How would you describe your style?

Minimal and well cut, with a dash of impulsivity. My closet is a bit of a contradiction: I live in jeans, but almost all other items need to be dry-cleaned as I love refined materials and vintage pieces.

Who is currently inspiring you? Sartorially, culturally, or otherwise?

Wabi-sabi and, in particular, Axel Vervoordt's interiors. The writing of Joan Didion. Art by Jean Arp. Everything Brancusi. Editorial images by David Sims. The list goes on.

What is your current favorite shoe from Emme Parsons?

I am in love with the Certo in black patent from the fall collection. It's the perfect transition piece and, living in LA, I'll be wearing these shoes year round. I love that it's a flat that somehow works so perfectly for day and night.

How would you style it for a full day on the go?

During the day, I'll be wearing them with white or blue wash vintage Levi's and a white shirt from Nina Ricci or Khaite. For evening, I'll be pairing them with this great pinstriped suit from the nineties and a black silk camisole. For something more fun, I just got this amazing vintage silk chartreuse skirt suit that will be perfect. The Certos are so versatile, they go with almost everything in my closet.

Tell us about your new company, LESSE and how it came to be?

I really believe your skin is an important aspect of your health, but it was always complex trying to navigate what was truly organic and what was just natural, or what these labels even meant. With LESSE, we are simplifying skincare by creating essential products that work effectively with all skin types—yet are all-organic and focused on longterm skin health as well as immediate effects.

What is your morning ritual?

I gulp a huge glass of water and then a black coffee. If I'm not going to yoga, then I'll jump straight in the shower where I brush my teeth, wash my face, etc. Right now I'm testing a cleanser for LESSE, which I'm so thrilled with—we'll be releasing it soon. When I jump out, I grab a cube of ice from the kitchen and rub it in circular motions on my face and décolletage. I never miss this step. Then I gently towel dry, spritz with a green tea toner before applying LESSE Balancing Face Oil. I finish with tinted SPF and a light coat of mascara.

What is your evening ritual?

All of the above aside from the coffee, SPF and mascara. I'll also use a little extra LESSE at night, and moisturize my hands and feet before jumping into bed.

Guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure?

Cheese board and red wine.

Best kept Los Angeles secret?

Far north Malibu. The beaches right before you reach the north edge of Malibu county are worth the long, but scenic, drive.

Describe your perfect day in Los Angeles.

It's almost always a Sunday. I'll sleep a little longer before heading to yoga, and then I'll walk my dog to Great White or cycle to Gjusta with my husband for breakfast. We'll then pack up the car with surfboards and a cooler, and head with friends to north Malibu for a long day at the beach. The day usually ends with some wine and dinner at Little Beach House or Malibu Seafood, sun setting. My favorite thing about living in Los Angeles is being so close to nature—I missed it so much when I was living in New York, so I live for the days when I can be immersed in nature now.
